The Loire valley is classified in the UNESCO patrimony. It is almost next door that you find the cultural and natural treasures of this patrimony.

Biking or walking

It is possible to bike along the Loire valley between Sancerre and Nantes (800km)  and the funny thing is that the itinerary passes right in front of Marguerite. So why not take your bike and go… For hiking fans, right around the corner starts the GR3 track. If you turn right and go on and on you will finish at the mouth of the Loire River. If you turn left, you will finish in the Atlantic Ocean…

The sand beaches along the river are charming and irresistible but it is also pleasant to canoe down the river. A three- seat canoe including paddles and live jackets is at your disposal. For bigger groups you can rent nearby.

Marguerite is really perfectly situated to visit the sumptuous estates of the Loire castles. Chenonceau and Amboise are at 15 minutes driving distance, the other castles can be found in a range of 60 km. The Loire valley area is also well known for its gardens and charming towns: Following the river upstream you will soon arrive at Chaumont and its yearly garden festival. Following the river downstream, within 15 minutes you find yourself at the mythic “place Plumereau of Tours”    



The AOC labeled white wines of Montlouis cover the range of dry, sweet or sparkling wines. In   Montlouis or in adjoining villages you will find numerous cellars where you can taste it yourself.

In the Loire valley there are many more AOC labeled wines such as the Vouvray, a village opposite Montlouis, the Touraine wine, the Bourgueil, Chinon etc. And last but not least the other gastronomic products of the Touraine:  goat cheese, potted meat and delicious pike-perch from the Loire.

Montlouis and its region contains a number of unknown treasures which will interest both parents and children.

At the Manoir du Clos Lucé where lived Leonardo da Vinci the last years of his life,  you will discover in a splendid park full with full scale models of his extraordinary inventions. Beauval zoo as well as the Touraine aquarium are well worth the detour.

If there is no time available to visit all the real castles, then you can discover them all at the miniature park which is 15 minutes away.
